Your five-day travel from Marrakech to Fes begins with a morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. As you start your adventure, you’ll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the High Atlas Mountains. Along the trip, we’ll stop at several spots to take in the stunning scenery and tour the historic Telouet Kasbah, once the great stronghold of the El Glaoui dynasty, also known as the Palace of Glaoui.
When you get in Ait Ben Haddou around midday, you can eat lunch before exploring the lovely Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This historic landmark has served as the setting for many renowned films and television shows, including The Mummy, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones episodes.
Continuing our adventure, we will visit Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Africa and a gateway to the desert. You’ll discover the famed Atlas Studios, the world’s largest film studio. You can tour the studio sets or visit the Taourirt Kasbah, another impressive fortified town originally owned by the El Glaoui family. After admiring the Kasbah’s grandeur, we will take you to your hotel for a quiet evening, followed by dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.

Ouarzazate ⇢ Skoura ⇢ Kelaat M'Gouna ⇢ Bou Tharar ⇢ Dades Valley
your day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel before we go for Skoura, a breathtaking oasis with over 4000 hectares of palm palms. This area was historically an important stopover for camel caravans moving between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean to Sub-Saharan Africa. At Skoura, you will see the majestic Amridil Kasbah, which provides insights into daily life within its walls over 300 years ago.
After seeing the Kasbah, we continue on to Kelaat M’Gouna, which is home to the famous Rose Valley. If you visit in the spring, you will be able to wander down the valley and admire the flowering roses in their full glory.
Leaving Kelaat M’Gouna behind, we continue our journey via picturesque Berber villages towards Bou Tharar. From there, we’ll take an adventurous off-road journey to Dades Valley. Along the route, we will stop to visit a Nomadic Berber family living in a mountain cave, where you can sip a warm cup of tea and learn about their unique way of life firsthand.
When we arrive at Dades Valley, we’ll check into your hotel and give you some time to relax. You can take a leisurely walk in Dades Valley or join a guided climb into Monkey Fingers Canyon, which features intriguing rock formations, slot canyons, and stunning views.
As the evening approaches, taste a delicious dinner before retiring to your accommodation for a pleasant night’s sleep, taking in the tranquil ambiance of Dades Valley.

After a fantastic breakfast at your accommodation, we will embark on an adventurous journey to the Merzouga Desert.
Along the route, we’ll pause to take a leisurely walk through the Todra Canyon and see the stunning panoramic views of the Tinghir oasis.
In the afternoon, we will travel to the Merzouga desert. Here, you will have a genuine camel ride through the dunes and watch the sunset from atop a high dune. Upon arriving at your luxury camp, you will be greeted with a cup of tea and led to your private luxury tent. After relaxing and indulging in a delicious dinner at the camp, gather around the campfire to hear the rhythmic sounds of drums and traditional Berber melodies under a starry sky.

Merzouga ⇢ Khamlia ⇢ Nomad Family
Today, for those who get up early, enjoy the breathtaking dawn. Following a delicious breakfast, prepare for a fascinating day exploring the Merzouga desert.
Begin your tour by visiting Khamlia, a small community known for its unique Gnawa music, a traditional form sung by residents with South African roots. Then we’ll go off-road to M’Fis, an abandoned settlement noted for its Galena mines, which produce a mineral used in cosmetics.
Visit a nomadic family living near the Erg Chebbi Dunes to get a firsthand look at their way of life. Here, you will be greeted with traditional Berber hospitality and learn about their way of life, which is far removed from modern civilization.
After lunch, we will visit a beautiful riad with picturesque views of Erg Chebbi’s golden sand dunes. Spend some time relaxing or swimming before watching the sunset. Later, take a leisurely walk to the dunes to witness another stunning sunset.

Today is another opportunity to rise early and see the spectacular sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes from the comfort of your lovely riad.
Following a substantial breakfast, we will embark on our journey to Fes. We will make numerous stops along the trip, including the magnificent Ziz Valley, a mesmerizing cedar forest near Azrou where you may see Barbary monkeys, and Ifrane, often known as Morocco’s Switzerland.
You will arrive in Fes in the late afternoon. Your guide will ensure that you are dropped off at the most convenient place to your hotel or riad, capping off your memorable 5-day off-the-beaten-path journey from Marrakech to Fes.
