Marrakech ⇢ High Atlas mountains ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ Ouarzazate

The desert tour from Marrakech begins with an early pickup from the airport or your hotel in Marrakech. Then, drive across the magnificent High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Stops will be made for panoramic views of the stunning scenery.

Following that, we will visit the famed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou—a fortified settlement designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has appeared in movies such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy. In addition, there are television shows such as Game of Thrones. Following that, we travel to Ouarzazate, often known as The Gate of the Desert. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.

Ouarzazate ⇢ Dades Valley ⇢ Tinghir Oasis ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Merzouga desert

After breakfast, we tour Ouarzazate. First, we go to the Atlas Studios, where some classic films were shot. Then explore the Taourirt Kasbah, a historic fortified mud castle. Following that, we head towards Agdz and join the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river. We will drive along it, stopping to take in panoramic vistas of palm tree groves, beautiful Kasbah, and Berber towns. Free hour for lunch at Nkob or Alnif.

After lunch, we continue to the Sahara desert of Merzouga via Rissani. When we reach the Erg Chebbi dunes, you will swap to camels to cross the Sahara desert. A halt will be made for you at the top of a large dune to watch the spectacular sunset. Then proceed to the camp, which combines traditional nomadic tents with the elegance of the hotel. At the campsite, you can listen to Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under the open sky of shining stars. Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.

Merzouga ⇢ Nomad Family ⇢ Khamlia

 Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the lovely sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you ride camels back to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. We dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. The area contains numerous magnificent sights, fossil locations, and a fabulous oasis. Which are perfect locations for a variety of outdoor sports.

First, we begin our excursion in Merzouga by driving off-road to an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit in their hand-woven tent. Drink Berber tea and learn about their way of life. Our next stop is Khamlia village, where you may enjoy Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its residents are from sub-Saharan African nations such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Following that, we take a stroll through a palm tree grove. Then drive a few Kilometers to visit the wild lake of Merzouga, commonly known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.

Merzouga ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Todra Gorges ⇢ Dades Valley

Wake up early to see the stunning sunrise in the hotel. You have free time for breakfast. We leave the desert to visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet.

Rissani remains an important trading center in the region, with a thriving souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

After a tour around Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud to visit one of the fossilized marble workshops. We next drive via Touroug and Tinjdad palm fields to reach the Todra Gorges. On the last day of your 5-day desert tour from Marrakech, we go to Kalaa Magouna to view the Rose Valley. The Rose Festival takes place in May. Locals sell a variety of rose items, including perfumes, rose items, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. Then we drive by other Kasbah, including Amridil Kasbah, which is encircled by a palm tree forest in Skoura. We arrive in Ouarzazate and have free time for lunch in town. Then we drive to Marrakech over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, we will get to your hotel or the airport in Marrakech. end of the tour.
